This is an unofficial personal fan site — not a live tracker. It brings together the published BBMF display schedule and information derived from UK NOTAMs to give advance awareness of where the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight may be appearing. Display locations shown on the map are based on NOTAM data and official event listings. Nothing shown here is guaranteed — all appearances are subject to change at any time.
Why this site exists. Like many people, I wanted a better way to know when and where the BBMF might be flying nearby — and to help fellow enthusiasts and the general public make the most of every opportunity to see these remarkable historic aircraft.
Everything here can change — at any time. BBMF appearances depend on weather, aircraft serviceability, crew availability and RAF operational requirements. A flypast can be cancelled at short notice — sometimes while the aircraft are already airborne — and this site will rarely reflect those changes, if at all.
Calendar events show where the BBMF is scheduled to appear — not confirmed timings. NOTAM data provides planned windows; calendar entries indicate expected appearances only. Always check official BBMF social media on the day for the latest updates.
This is not a live tracker. For live aircraft positions once airborne, try FlightRadar24 or ADS-B Exchange — though not all BBMF aircraft transmit ADS-B.
For confirmed appearances always check the official RAF BBMF page and the BBMF Facebook and X/Twitter accounts — these are the most reliable sources on the day.
Please do not contact the RAF or BBMF team based on anything you see here. If an appearance didn't go ahead, a location changed, or you didn't see them — that is the nature of operational flying with 80-year-old aircraft. The BBMF team have no involvement with this fan site and should not be contacted about it. Information is provided as-is, without warranty or guarantee of accuracy or currency.

About the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) is one of the most beloved institutions in British aviation. Based at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, its mission is to maintain a fleet of iconic Second World War aircraft in fully airworthy condition — a living, breathing memorial to the tens of thousands of aircrew and ground personnel who gave their lives in defence of freedom.
The Flight was inaugurated on 11 July 1957 at RAF Biggin Hill, originally known as the RAF Historic Aircraft Flight. It consisted of three Spitfire PR Mk XIXs and the RAF's last airworthy Hurricane, LF363. After several name changes it became the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight in 1969, and the arrival of Lancaster PA474 in 1973 gave it the name it carries to this day.
Often described as a "museum without walls", the BBMF now operates eleven historic aircraft. The display season runs from May to September each year, with the aircraft regularly seen at airshows, state occasions, commemorations and local community events across the UK and occasionally Europe. The crew — pilots, engineers and support staff — are all active-duty RAF volunteers.
The BBMF's motto, "Lest We Forget", encapsulates its entire purpose: to honour the memory of those who fought, and to inspire future generations with a tangible, thundering connection to the past.
A Brief History
From its origins at Biggin Hill, the Flight moved through North Weald, Martlesham Heath, Horsham St Faith, and RAF Coltishall before settling permanently at RAF Coningsby in March 1976. Each move reflected the changing RAF landscape of the post-war decades, but the commitment to preservation never wavered.
Over the decades the fleet grew: Chipmunks joined in 1983 for pilot training, and a Douglas Dakota was acquired in 1995 to serve as a more reliable multi-engine trainer — a role that has since expanded to full participation in displays and commemorative flypasts.
The BBMF Visitor Centre
The BBMF Visitor Centre at RAF Coningsby (managed by Lincolnshire County Council) offers the public a chance to see the aircraft up close when they are on the ground. Guided tours are available and pre-booking is strongly advised. The centre provides a fascinating insight into the maintenance, history and operational work of the Flight.
The Aircraft
The BBMF operates eleven historic aircraft, each with its own remarkable story. In 2026 the Lancaster is undergoing major maintenance at IWM Duxford, so the Dakota takes on a more prominent display role this season.
✈ Avro Lancaster PA474
The only airworthy Lancaster in Europe. Built May 1945, just after VE Day. One of only two flying Lancasters in the world. Undergoing major maintenance 2025–2026.
✈ Spitfire P7350 (Mk IIa)
The oldest flying Spitfire — a genuine Battle of Britain veteran aircraft. Served with No. 266 and 603 Squadrons during 1940.
✈ Spitfire AB910 (Mk Vb)
A veteran of the Battle of the Atlantic, Dieppe Raid, and D-Day cover operations with No. 402 Sqn RCAF.
✈ Spitfire PM631 (PR Mk XIX)
A photographic reconnaissance Spitfire and one of the aircraft associated with the origins of the Historic Aircraft Flight in 1957.
✈ Spitfire PS915 (PR Mk XIX)
A Griffon-powered PR Mk XIX, the most powerful Spitfire variant in BBMF service, fitted with a five-blade propeller.
✈ Spitfire TE311 (LF Mk IXe)
A late LF Mk IXe Spitfire completing the BBMF's six-airframe Spitfire collection.
✈ Hurricane LF363 (Mk IIC)
Often regarded as the last Hurricane to enter RAF service. One of the few airworthy Hurricanes remaining worldwide.
✈ Hurricane PZ865 (Mk IIC)
The very last Hurricane ever built out of 14,533. Nicknamed "The Last of the Many". Returned to flight after major maintenance.
✈ Douglas Dakota ZA947
Named 'Kwicherbichen'. Associated with D-Day airborne operations and serves as the BBMF's primary multi-engine display aircraft in 2026.
✈ Chipmunks WG486 & WK518
The BBMF's two de Havilland Chipmunks, used for tailwheel training, currency flying, and crew support duties.
How to See the BBMF
Airshows & Events
The BBMF regularly appears at selected UK airshows and commemorative events during the flying season (typically May–September). Displays often feature combinations of the Spitfires, Hurricanes and Dakota depending on serviceability and event requirements.
Flypasts
The BBMF also conducts flypasts for official ceremonies, commemorations, and public events across the UK. These are scheduled in advance and are subject to operational conditions and approvals.
RAF Coningsby (Base Viewing)
The BBMF is based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. Aircraft movements may occasionally be visible from public viewing areas around the perimeter. Visitors must remain in designated public areas and respect all RAF signage and restricted zones.
Important Visitor Notes
When attending airshows, flypasts, or viewing near airfields, always follow local instructions. Do not park on private roads, block access gates, or obstruct emergency routes. Use official car parks and viewing areas where provided. Respect local residents, landowners, and airfield security at all times.

This site displays information from NOTAMs and various online media sources that were valid at the time of processing. Flypasts are subject to change without notice due to weather, aircraft serviceability, operational requirements, or any number of other factors.
